SF-based Say Media opening engineering office in Denver

San Francisco-based Say Media is looking to open an engineering office in LoDo or the Golden Triangle and immediately staff it with four people.

Say Media was formed when digital ad network Videoegg acquired content producer Six Apart, the company behind Movable Type, in 2010.

The company has launched several online publications since the merger and currently has about 20 properties. Top titles include tech blog ReadWrite, Jane Pratt's xoJane and "sourcebook for living" Remodelista. The company's advertising network spans hundreds of sites.

"We like to consider ourselves a tech company and a content company," says Ryan Newman, Say's Manager of Talent Acquisition. "Our mission is being an amazing media company."

Say has an engineering team of 65 in San Francisco who are working across the stack, Newman says, and they plan to give future hires there the option of working in Denver. At the outset, the Denver office will be "tethered" to San Francisco with plans for later autonomy. "We're hoping it will be a standalone office," he says.

"We're really excited about coming to the Denver market," says Newman. "Right now, we have four positions on our site team. Everybody we're chatting with is local to Denver." He says the company is "looking for a wide range of skills" for the local office.

Say Media has 400 employees worldwide, and about half are based from San Francisco.
