While the western side of the Baker neighborhood is industrial, the center is a unique collection of stores, cafes and professional buildings. Bookstores of all things have survived in this neighborhood. Perhaps it's because from the outside, Baker houses look flush with good reading spots. The South Broadway area is the place to score unique furniture and home decor. Dive bars, small music venues and those much venerated hipsters flavor this 'hood.
