Kurt Whitt of Planet Media on Mount Evans with Max.
Planet Media
The coming portal for the Sustainable Business Network of the Rocky Mountains.
Planet Media
Denver-based website developer
Planet Media
is hiring.
"We're looking for quality development engineers," says CEO and Founder Kurt Whitt. "It's very competitive right now. Denver's really starting to re-emerge as a technology hotbed."
Whitt founded Planet Media in San Francisco in 1999 and moved it to Denver in 2000.
"I started the business after being in broadcast and interactive television," says Whitt. "I was just burned out with the corporate world."
After relocating to Colorado, the company "survived" the dot-com bust of 2000 and started working largely with independent contractors to respond to variable workloads. "We could throttle up and down," Whitt says.
The 11-employee company pivoted and began focusing on green and eco-friendly clients in 2009, and closed its LoDo offices the same year as part of a number of sustainable initiatives. The company has operated virtually for the past four years, and Whitt says it's proven to be a good strategic decision. New hires can work from Denver or elsewhere, he adds.
Clients include Greenhouse Data and the Girl Scouts of America.
Coming up in early 2014: the launch of a portal for the nonprofit
Sustainable Business Network of the Rocky Mountains
, which Whitt calls "an online magazine" for regional green companies.
"What we're looking to do is promote those who are involved in sustainable initiatives and causes," he explains.
