MyDealerService launches app to connect mechanics and customers

MyDealerService
has launched an app that lets dealership service departments keep customers up to date on their vehicle's status.
Founder Jon Rossi says the five-employee company will office out of
Thrive
in LoDo as of early December.
The idea for the startup stemmed from Rossi's personal experience.
"I was at the Honda dealership in Aurora," he says. "They said it was going to be a two-and-a-half-hour wait. Six and a half hours, later, my truck was done."
Rossi started MyDealerService in Oct. 2013 to streamline the process.
"I figured there had to be a better way to update the customer," he explains. The MyDealerService solution uses texts and emails to relay current time estimates and other information from the dealerships to their customers.
"Our customers are the actual dealerships," says Rossi, noting that maintenance and repair is their bread and butter. "Service departments contribute 72 percent of the revenue to the dealerships."
MyDealerService will charge its customers a recurring monthly fee.
The first beta dealership will go live as the company's first paying customer in early December. A big sales push is on tap for 2014, he adds.
"We want to raise a round," says Rossi, targeting $500,000. "That would accelerate the runway."
A longtime fixture on the Denver startup scene, Rossi says he recently quit his day job as an IT manager to focus on MyDealerService full-time.
Rossi is also the Founder of
StartupDenver
, which he is positioning as a consulting firm. "We're trying to put together a good business model," he says.
