Replacing Steve Foster at the helm of the
Colorado Technology Association, local entrepreneur and tech-community champion Erik Mitisek is the organization's new CEO.
"It's an absolute honor," says Mitisek, Co-Founder of tech-travel startup
NextGreatPlace, of his new job. "It's kind of an extension of the nonprofit work I've done in the past few years. It's a natural belnd of the things I love."
Mitisek has been heavily involved in promoiting Denver's entrpreneurial scene with
Built In Denver and
Denver Startup Week. He remains a shareholder and member of NextGreatPlace's board but has left his day-to-day role at the company and is "fully engaged" as full-time CTA CEO.
CTA officials first approached Mitisek about the position in March 2013 and he quickly decided it was a great fit.
"It's going to be fun," he says. "The Colorado technology industry is in the midst of a major renaissance." He describes Colorado as "the technology haven between the coasts."
"I hope to tell and amplify the stories of the companies I've worked with the past few years," he adds, "and be a catalyst for them to move forward."
