FORETHOUGHT.net acquires Durango ISP, hiring in Denver

Founder and CEO Jawaid Bazyar started FORETHOUGHT.net in 1995. In early October, the company closed on the acquisition of Brainstorm Internet, a Durango ISP and EAGLE-Net contractor with customers in Colorado and New Mexico.

Now employing 31, the Denver-based FORETHOUGHT.net will likely hire "three to four people in the next 90 days," says Bazyar.

Bazyar says he's seen many competitors come and go.  In the days of the dot-com boom, "It was like I was walking down the street alone, then a herd of elephants ran past me," says Bazyar. "I kept walking and started to see elephant carcasses all over the place."

The company has expanded its services over the years. Website development and DSL were early focal points, then FORETHOUGHT.net began offering VOIP services in 2004. Today fiber is a prime product offering.

FORETHOUGHT.net now counts 10,000 customers, most of them businesses. "We've grown through organic growth and acquisitions," says Bazyar. "It's been slow and steady. I've had some customers with me since the late '90s."

Customer service "is how we've differentiated ourselves," he adds.

The company is nearing completion of a fiber loop from Denver to Grand Junction, then south to Durango and Farmington, New Mexico, before heading east to Albuquerque and back north to Denver. Bazyar says the loop will be complete in Q1 2014.

Bazyar says he's targeting companies with numerous regional facilities, as the loop "will give us the ability to seamlessly connect offices."
