In LoDo, cloud-based phone provider FluentStream looks to add four employees immediately

Cloud-based VOIP (voice over Internet protocol) provider FluentStream Technologies, now nine employees, is growing.

"We're hiring four new people pretty much immediately," say Josh Ellis, business development executive. Open positions include developers, support staff and marketing.

President and CTO Joshua Elson and Director of Customer Experience Doug Aumont founded FluentStream in 2007 and bootstrapped the company to profitability.

Competing with CenturyLink and other large companies, price is a key differentiator for FluentStream. "We tend to come out a lot more affordable," says Ellis. "We say we save up to 70 percent."

"$30 a month for unlimited calling is our starting price," he adds. "We have numerous one- and two-user accounts and accounts with hundreds of users, but all of our infrastructure is built to scale up to thousands of seats if necessary."

There are no contracts and the cloud-based technology, dubbed FluentCloud, is very reliable, says Ellis. "It's designed to really simplify things. Other PBX systems, a lot of times you need an IT person to work through it. With us, it's a single-page web app."

Call centers are one of the top vertical markets for FluentStream, says Ellis, noting that the company does a lot of custom integrations for such clients.

Other clients include coworking space Galvanize and the Arvada Fire Department. The former is a good badge of honor for FluentStream, says Ellis, but the latter is an even better testament to FluentCloud's reliability.

"If your phones go down at a fire department, it's not a good thing," he says.
