Frontiere Natural Meats expands by 14,000 square feet

Frontiere Natural Meats is expanding its operations with an additional 14,000 square feet of process space in its existing facility at 810 E. 50th Ave.

The family run ranch-to-table operation is a purveyor of natural and organic meats. The larger area will house additional processing and production machinery, enabling the company to meet growing demand both domestically and internationally.

The company, which employs about 50 people, distributes about 600,000 pounds of meat each month. The company's products, including beef, bison and brats, are found at LoDo's Paramount Cafe, BJs Brewhouse and Root Down. They're also available at Alfalfa's, Marczyk's, Source Local Foods and Mile High Organics.

Through its Platte Valley Food Group subsidiary, the company exports to Europe, where bison from the United States is popular. It also produces and distributes its products for its Maverick Ranch partnership and Kiva Sun, a Native American bison operation.

As part of the expansion, Frontiere will seek Safe Quality Food Program certification. The program is recognized by retailers and food-service providers worldwide that require a rigorous, credible food-safety management system. The program also is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative and links primary production certification to food manufacturing, distribution and agent/broker management certification.
