Mersive officially launched Solstice, a product that allows multiple users in the same room to wirelessly share one display.
"Solstice is a groundbreaking software product that enables people to wirelessly connect to a display," says Vice President of Marketing Christine Owens. Users install the software on a PC and connect it to a display or projection system, and download free client software on their laptops and iPads.
"Right now, there is a paradigm of one person, one presentation at a time," says Owens. "Solstice completely breaks that down. Anyone can contribute any piece of content."
Technology for remote collaboration is more established than it is for people in the same room, she adds. "This is a part of collaboration that's been neglected. When everybody is in the same room, it's difficult."
Owens describes the market for Solstice as "pretty broad-based -- meeting rooms and conference rooms across all industries."
The license for a Solstice installation is $3,500, and client software is free for an unlimited number of users. A 30-day free trial is available.
CTO Christopher Jaynes and Chief Scientist Stephen Webb founded Mersive in 2006 and moved to Denver in 2009 after considering Silicon Valley, Seattle and Boston.
With former SkyeTek and Jabber CEO Rob Balgley filling the same role here, the company entered into a strategic development and equity agreement with 3M in October 2012.
